How does a hitter start the swing on time?

Timing starts with the load: a small move back that gathers the body and the hands before the stride, started as the pitcher delivers. A player who loads late, or not at all, is late on the pitch. The videos show what a load is and drills that help your player load and stride on time.

What it looks like: Late on pitches your player should hit, or lunging forward early with the hands and weight moving together.
