A 12.5-inch youth baseball first base mitt in Mizuno's Prospect Series with a Bio Throwback pebbled leather shell by its spec line and a Parashock palm pad. PowerClose technology and Less 2 lacing are built in for easier closing; right- and left-hand throw are offered in black.

Type	Youth first base mitt
Size	12.5 in What this means Measured from the heel to the top of the index finger. Infielders use smaller gloves (10.25 to 11.75 in) for quick transfers; outfielders larger (12 to 12.75 in); first base and catcher's mitts are measured differently. Tip: Bigger is not better for a young infielder. A glove they can close beats a glove that looks like a pro's.
Leather	Bio Throwback Leather
Hand	Right-hand throw or left-hand throw
Ages	Youth; younger players
Also on the page	Bio Throwback Leather: Soft, pebbled leather for game-ready performance and long lasting durability Less 2 Lacing: Removes the last 2 lace loops on the web to increase flexibility along the closing axis Parashock Palm Pad: Provides outstanding protection and ideal comfort PowerClose Technology: Makes catching easy for younger players

Fit profile

Stated comes off the maker's page; derived is worked out from what the maker states: its words, its leather, its numbers; graded is Patrick's call; unknown means the class is not known yet.

LeatherunknownNot known
Break-instatedGame-readyStated: page uses break-in or softness wording.
What this means
Soft out of the box and usable the first day. Made with softer leather that will not last as long as a stiff pro glove, which is fine for a growing player.
Tip: For most players under 12 this is the right answer.
Closing effortderivedMediumDerived from break-in class.
What this means
How hard a young hand has to squeeze to close the glove on a ball. Easy means a soft build and a smaller pattern; hard means stiff leather or a big mitt.
Tip: If your player drops balls that hit the pocket, closing effort is usually the reason, not the hands.
