Facts as the maker states them, read 13 Oct 2026

Birdman Stu Series 12.5 inch first base mitt in black with tan accents, made with special leather. The page does not state web type, hand, or certification.

Type	First base mitt
Size	12.5 in What this means Measured from the heel to the top of the index finger. Infielders use smaller gloves (10.25 to 11.75 in) for quick transfers; outfielders larger (12 to 12.75 in); first base and catcher's mitts are measured differently. Tip: Bigger is not better for a young infielder. A glove they can close beats a glove that looks like a pro's.
Leather	special leather
Also on the page	black with tan accents soft and pre broken in to an extent more game ready, less break-in needed (description)
The maker says	Designed in house in the US. Game ready, requires less break-in.

What "buyer reports" means

Public review counts and themes we found for this maker, with links, plus break reports sent in by site users. Where we found nothing public we say so.

Bat DigestIndependent review: Private Stock BM110 wood BBCOR -3Rating: Letter grades, not stars: Overall C-, Power B, Control A+, Quality F, Value B (rank 339 of 424 BBCOR -3 bats)These grades look formula-based (several makers share the same scores), so we do not use them. The review likes: Reviewers' hitters preferred it over other major wood brands for feel and look; Called a notable newcomer now approved for MLB useThe review raises: Quality graded F with no explanation, which conflicts with the praise in the text (read it there)

Fit profile

Stated comes off the maker's page; derived is worked out from what the maker states: its words, its leather, its numbers; graded is Patrick's call; unknown means the class is not known yet.

LeatherunknownNot known
Break-instatedGame-readyStated: page uses break-in or softness wording.
What this means
Soft out of the box and usable the first day. Made with softer leather that will not last as long as a stiff pro glove, which is fine for a growing player.
Tip: For most players under 12 this is the right answer.
Closing effortderivedMediumDerived from break-in class.
What this means
How hard a young hand has to squeeze to close the glove on a ball. Easy means a soft build and a smaller pattern; hard means stiff leather or a big mitt.
Tip: If your player drops balls that hit the pocket, closing effort is usually the reason, not the hands.
