Facts as the maker states them, read 13 Oct 2026

Custom Cut PSFT23 is a maple or birch bat with a flared knob, medium handle, medium barrel and slightly end-loaded feel, and a recommended bat weight of -2. The page says it is taken from the Victus TATIS23 and is a hybrid of a PS113 and PS5AP.

Model codePSFT23
WoodMaple or birch
What this means

Maple. Dense and hard, the most common pro wood. Hits hard and holds up when the player squares the ball up; breaks rather than flakes when mis-hit. Quality varies a lot by maker.

Tip: Maple from a good maker is the best wood bat money can buy; maple from a cheap one is the worst.

Birch. Softer than maple and more forgiving of mis-hits; hardens with use. A good choice for a first wood bat and for younger players.

Wood gradeMinimum 20" of straight grain
Drop−2
What this means

Drop is length minus weight: a 30 in, 20 oz bat is a -10. A bigger drop number means a lighter bat for its length. Younger players use -10 to -13; USSSA 13U is usually capped at -5; high school and college are -3.

Tip: Check the drop your league allows before you look at anything else.

BarrelMedium barrel; 2.49" diameter
What this means

The middle of the range (about 2.45 to 2.55 in). Most pro turn models live here.

Tip: A safe default when you are not sure.

HandleMedium handle; .92" handle
What this means

About 0.93 to 0.96 in. The usual choice: enough whip, enough strength.

Tip: Most players never need to think about this one.

KnobFlared
What this means

The handle widens into the knob like the bell of a trumpet. Players who choke up or want leverage like it; it also keeps the bottom hand from sliding off. Popular from high school up.

BalanceSlight end load
Ink dotYes
What this means

An ink dot on the handle shows the maker tested the grain slope. It is required for maple and birch bats used in pro ball and is a good sign of wood selection on any bat.

Compared on the pageThe PSFT23 is built for power and is taken from the Victus TATIS23 - Fernando Tatis' custom model; It's a hybrid between a PS113 and PS5AP
