Facts as the maker states them, read 20 Oct 2026

Louisville Slugger birch wood bat, turning model C243, in 31 to 34 inch lengths at drop -3. The page states a slightly end-loaded swing weight.

Model codeC243
WoodBirch
What this means

Softer than maple and more forgiving of mis-hits; hardens with use. A good choice for a first wood bat and for younger players.

Drop−3
What this means

Drop is length minus weight: a 30 in, 20 oz bat is a -10. A bigger drop number means a lighter bat for its length. Younger players use -10 to -13; USSSA 13U is usually capped at -5; high school and college are -3.

Tip: Check the drop your league allows before you look at anything else.

The maker says
  • Craftsman-Style Cup: Our completely re-engineered Craftsman-Style Cup features a thicker width edge along the end of the barrel, lending added strength and durability to the end of the bat to help reduce chipping and cracking.
  • Seamless Decals: Applied directly under our high-definition topcoat, the iconic center brands and back brands blend into the bat almost as intricately as the grain of the wood itself.
  • Professional Series Finish: An enhanced resin material, paired with an ultraviolet light finishing process, results in a bat 30% harder than previous Louisville Slugger Prime wood bats with mirror-like appearance on gloss models.
  • UV Light Treatment: A specialized ultraviolet lamp generates a chemical reaction within the topcoat to immediately cure and harden the material.
  • Pro Hardened: Steel rods generate a combination of pressure and heat to compress the wood of the bat and create a harder, denser surface along the entire length of the barrel.
